Jimmy Fallon escapes losing finger

He nearly lost his ring finger when he fell and caught his wedding ring on a table edge.
Last night was Fallon’s first fresh “Tonight Show” in more than two weeks.
The show had a summer break scheduled before Fallon’s injury.
Fallon says he spent 10 days in the I-C-U at New York’s Bellevue Hospital Center. He credits the doctors and nurses there with saving his finger.
He appeared on his show last night with his left hand heavily bandaged.
Fallon says his time in the hospital gave him the opportunity to reflect on what he should be doing with his life.
He says his job is to make people laugh who are in an ICU or who are suffering. Fallon adds, “get out of that hospital!”

Fans of “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” may have noticed the host with a rather large cast around his left hand where his wedding ring used to be.

That’s because he had a little accident over a two-week break at his home that almost…well, if you’re the kind of person who gets nauseous during movies like Hostel or Saw, you should probably just stop reading right now.

Fallon first sent out some tweets on June 26 explaining how he tripped, caught his wedding ring on the side of a table and “almost ripped my finger off.” He returned to The Tonight Show on Monday where he described his accident and recovery from a rare type of finger injury known as “ring avulsion.”

According to a study published in the Indian Journal of Orthopaedics in 2008, ring avulsion is rare but very serious. It occurs when a ring on a person’s finger is pulled in some kind of forceful manner causing anything from “a simple contusion injury to a traumatic amputation.”

In some cases, ring avulsion can also cause injury to the surrounding skin, muscle and tissue known as “degloving,” which is exactly what your horrified mind is probably picturing right now.

A report filed in 2013 in British Medical Journal Case Reports details the case of a 59-year-old man who had his ring finger stripped almost down to the bone when he tripped and got his wedding ring caught on a steel fence during his fall.

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are getting divorced

The couple filed divorce docs a while ago, and a judge is expected to officially end their 4 year marriage today. We’re told Blake is the one who filed.

We’re also told all the financial arrangements have been worked out … made easy by the fact that they have a prenup.

The divorce was filed in Oklahoma.

Representatives for the couple told the Associated Press, “This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”

Shelton filed for divorce in Oklahoma, a move which may come as a shock to fans of the superstar singers.

Lambert’s Twitter page proudly displays a photo of her and Shelton smiling for the camera. Shelton’s page features a large horizontal photo from Lambert’s Marie Claire cover.

Great white sharks have been ­protected in all Australian waters since 1998. The first male great whites born into that protection reached maturity eight to 10 years ago, and their female counterparts started maturing in 2010. In the meantime, the surviving juveniles born before 1998 presumably also mated.         

JEFFREYS BAY, South Africa – It wasn’t what three-time world surfing champion Mick Fanning expected to be doing during a competition: fighting off a shark on live television.

The attack happened during the 2015 J-Bay Open heat in South Africa. The 34-year-old Aussie surfer was in the water with his surfboard when a fin broke through the water near him. The shark then attacked him, according to our sister station Fox CT.

“I was just sitting there and I felt something just get stuck in my leg rope, and I was kicking, trying to get it away,” Fanning told Fox Sports. “I instantly just jumped away. It kept coming at my board and I was kicking and screaming. I just saw fins. I was waiting for teeth. I punched it in the back,” he said.

Rescuers pulled Fanning out of the water, unharmed.

The competition was canceled after the close call.

“The safety of our athletes is a priority for the WSL and, after discussions with both Finalists, we have decided to cancel the remainder of competition at the J-Bay Open. We appreciate the ongoing support we have in South Africa and once again want to express our gratitude to the Water Safety Team,” WSL Commissioner Kieren Perrow said in a statement. Trump is not a fan of John McCain because he has done so little for our Veterans and he should know better than anybody what the Veterans need, especially in regards to the VA. He is yet another all talk, no action politician who spends too much time on television and not enough time doing his job and helping the Vets. He is also allowing our military to decrease substantially in size and strength, something which should never be allowed to happen.

Furthermore, he was extremely disrespectful to the thousands upon thousands of people, many of whom happen to be his constituents, that came to listen to me speak about illegal immigration in Phoenix last week by calling them “crazies”.

These were not “crazies”—these were great American citizens.

I have great respect for all those who serve in our military including those that weren’t captured and are also heroes.

I want to strengthen our military and take care of our Veterans. I want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN especially for those that serve to protect our freedom. I am fighting for our Veterans!

Republican candidates fired back at Donald Trump Saturday after the real-estate billionaire-turned-presidential hopeful disparaged Sen. John McCain’s (R-Az.) military record during an appearance at the Family Leadership Summit in Iowa.

During a press conference following his appearance at the annual conservative gathering, Trump clarified that his comments weren’t meant as an attack on all prisoners of war, just McCain.

“If a person is captured, they’re a hero as far as I’m concerned,” Trump told reporters. “I don’t like the job John McCain is doing in the Senate because he’s not taking care of our veterans.”

“These were not ‘crazies’ — these were great American citizens,” Trump fired back in his statement Saturday, which included a line at the end noting that Trump left his appearance at the Family Leadership Summit “to a long lasting standing ovation, which will be by far the biggest ovation of the weekend, and much congratulatory praise.”

The first month of Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign has been marked by a stream of unfiltered and, by many accounts, offensive statements regarding illegal immigration, beginning with the claim that Mexico is sending its drugs, criminals and rapists over the border to the U.S.

Despite drawing criticism from fellow candidates and elected officials on both sides of the political spectrum, Trump campaign also clearly resonated with some voters, with a recent national Fox News Poll showing the billionaire taking the lead over fellow GOP candidates.

While the backlash against Trump within the Republican primary pool had largely centered on his inflammatory remarks rather than the candidate himself, his attack on McCain struck a nerve and prompted an outpouring of personal rebukes.

In a statement, Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry called on Trump to “apologize immediately for attacking Senator McCain and all veterans who have protected and served our country.”

“As a veteran and an American, I respect Sen. McCain because he volunteered to serve his country,” the former Texas governor stated. “I cannot say the same of Mr. Trump. His comments have reached a new low in American politics. His attack on veterans make him unfit to be Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces, and he should immediately withdraw from the race for President.”

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he does not owe John McCain an apology for saying the Arizona senator is only a war hero “because he was captured.”

Trump told Martha Raddatz on ABC’s “This Week” that he won’t be pulling out of the presidential race over his comments, which he made Saturday during a campaign event in Iowa. Trump said he left to a “standing ovation” after speaking at the Family Leadership Council summit.

“When I left the room, it was a total standing ovation,” said Trump. “It was wonderful to see. Nobody was insulted.”

When speaking about McCain on Saturday, Trump said he likes “people who weren’t captured.” He didn’t back down when asked about the comment.

“People that fought hard and weren’t captured and went through a lot, they get no credit,” he said. “Nobody even talks about them. They’re like forgotten, and I think that’s a shame, if you want to know the truth.”

Before Trump’s comments Saturday, McCain had said the real estate mogul was firing up “crazies.” Trump had already found himself embroiled in controversy over comments he made last month regarding Mexican immigrants.

Raddatz asked Trump if McCain’s capture in Vietnam — where he spent five years as a prisoner of war and was beaten and tortured by the North Vietnamese — described a war hero. He reiterated what his campaign said following his comments Saturday — that he was disappointed in the Arizona senator because of how veterans are treated in the U.S.

“I’m very disappointed in John McCain because the vets are horribly treated in this country,” said Trump. “I’m fighting for the vets. I’ve done a lot for the vets.”

Trump said veterans were treated like “third-class citizens,” adding that McCain has “done nothing to help the vets.”

Trump didn’t serve in the Vietnam War after receiving four student deferments and an additional medical deferment after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School in 1968. He said he would have “proudly served” but wasn’t drafted because of his high lottery number.

“If I would have gotten a low number, I would have been drafted. I would have proudly served,” he said. “But I got a number, I think it was 356. That’s right at the very end. And they didn’t get — I don’t believe — past even 300, so I was — I was not chosen because of the fact that I had a very high lottery number.”

Asked if he would continue his pattern of “name-calling, using terms like ‘dummy,’ ‘loser,’ ‘total losers’ on Twitter and elsewhere” when he’s “criticized or attacked” if he was elected president, Trump told Raddatz he only gives it back to people who attack him.

“When people attack me, I let them have it back,” he said. “People are constantly attacking my hair. I don’t see you coming to my defense.”

Trump has come under criticism from numerous fellow 2016 candidates on both sides of aisle. Hillary Clinton called the attack on McCain “shameful.” Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry said the comments by Trump made him unfit to be president and said the reality TV star should withdraw from the race.

The half sister of Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner is the youngest of Kris Jenner’s daughters. As well as appearing on the hit reality TV programme, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kylie is also a model, designer and aspiring actress.

She calls the rumors about her second child’s name being the opposite direction of North West, 1, totally “ridiculous.”

During the entertaining interview, which featured Kim at her comical best, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians stunner thinks naming her next child South would be just “so stupid.” Seriously, though, who wants to be named after an airline?
